The first public release of QCZEK X is now available.
QCZEK X is an independent research and development project focused on exploring
the hardware and software architecture of FPV devices and enabling independent
software development on platforms that were not originally designed for it.
The first supported research platform is the
Walksnail Avatar Goggles X.
QCZEK X 1.2.7
The current Windows release can prepare supported Avatar Goggles X devices for
QCZEK X and provides:
- permanent root SSH access over Wi-Fi
- a Windows installation and management tool
- a web-based application manager
- a launcher running directly on the goggles
- support for running custom native applications
- access to selected hardware interfaces and buttons
The current package also includes several demonstration and diagnostic applications,
including AudioTest, Hardware Info and a playable
Arkanoid demo running directly on the goggles.
Installation and Demo
I have also published the first installation and demonstration video showing the
complete process, from accessing the internal USB port and installing the Windows
driver to installing QCZEK X and launching custom applications.
Download
QCZEK X 1.2.7 for Windows 64-bit is available now.
The current release has been verified with
Walksnail Avatar Goggles X firmware 39.44.18.
Compatibility with other firmware versions should not be assumed unless explicitly
documented.
This Is Only the Beginning
QCZEK X is still an experimental research project.
The current release demonstrates that custom software can run directly on the goggles,
but there is still a lot of the platform left to investigate.
Current research includes deeper analysis of the Linux and RTOS components,
video processing and transport, kernel modules, hardware interfaces and possible
Bluetooth support.
The longer-term goal is to document the platform well enough to make it easier for
other developers to build their own applications and experiments for the goggles.

Technical information, downloads, compatibility information and future development
updates are available on the main QCZEK X project page:
Support the Research
QCZEK X is currently self-funded.
If you find the project useful and would like to support further hardware research,
test equipment and local AI infrastructure used during reverse engineering,
you can support the project through Ko-fi.
Contributions are entirely voluntary. No software, service, technical support,
early access or exclusive content is provided in exchange for a contribution.
QCZEK X is an independent research and development project and is not affiliated with,
sponsored by or endorsed by CaddxFPV or Walksnail.
All product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
QCZEK X is experimental software. Opening or modifying hardware, changing USB drivers,
enabling root access or running experimental software may cause data loss,
loss of functionality or render a device unusable.
